Gotts Court/Annapolis Visitors Center

Location: Annapolis, Maryland

Awards:

2010 Four Rivers: The Heritage Area at Annapolis, London Town and South County, Public/Private Initiative Award

Description: Gotts Court Surface Parking serves as the entry point for visitors to the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Visitors Center. The project serves as an example of green building techniques for the City. The site boasts a 65% increase in permeability and has water quantity and quality features on-site to minimize transference of water. As the water runs through the permeable pavers in the parking area it is filtered and then discharged to the rain gardens prior to entering the closed storm drain system. Recycled, salvaged and refurbished materials were used for paving accents and lighting. Archeological features below grade, were protected by raising the existing grades.
