Gudas Residence

Location: Annapolis, Maryland

Description: Hurricane Isabel dictated the restructuring of this residential site on the South River. The damage necessitated the complete redesign of the bulkhead, pier, pool, and gardens. Of primary importance was the view.

Cues were taken from the horizontal nature of the residence and the vast horizontal vista and were subtly carried through into the detailing of the hardscape elements. Attention was given to use of natural materials, clear unfinished cedar and bluestone, designed with clean lines so as not to detract from the view and draw upon the natural setting.
